Tracking

Your Tracking Setup Is Costing You Leads

Most businesses lose 20-40% of their conversion data before it ever reaches their ad platforms. That means your cost-per-lead numbers are wrong, your ROAS is inflated, and you’re optimizing campaigns on bad data.

The Three Places Tracking Breaks

1. Tag Manager misconfiguration. Triggers fire on the wrong events, variables aren’t populated, or tags are blocked by consent management tools. The fix: audit every tag against actual form submissions, not just pageviews.

2. Cross-domain leakage. If your funnel spans multiple domains (landing page → CRM → thank-you page), the session breaks unless you’ve configured cross-domain tracking correctly. Most setups haven’t.

3. Server-side gaps. Browser-side tracking is dying. iOS restrictions, ad blockers, and cookie consent mean you’re missing 30%+ of events. Server-side tagging through GTM Server or a CAPI integration is the fix — but it has to be set up right.

What to Do About It

Start with a tracking audit. Map every conversion event in your funnel, then verify each one is actually firing and reaching your ad platforms with the correct parameters.
